Hello and welcome to Class 2! My name is Miss Stannard and I am the class teacher. I would like to thank all of you for making me feel so welcome as a new member of staff at Swinderby All Saints Primary School. We have so much to look forward to this year and I can't wait to learn with you all!
This term, in English we are looking at the book 'The Butterfly Lion' and working on our prediction and inference skills, and in Maths we have recently been focusing on using our times tables to help us multiply and divide. In our topic work, we will be learning about the weather, our reading corner has transformed from being in the rainforest to being in the snow!
We will be doing P.E every Wednesday afternoon, so please make sure your child has their P.E kit in school on these days. P.E will take place outside (weather permitting) so children should have weather appropriate clothes in their kits.
Also, on a Friday afternoon, a newsletter will be sent out, showing what the class has been doing that week and if there any important notices for the following week.
If you have any questions or issues that may arise over the year, feel free to contact me by email or we can arrange a meeting before or after school.
Our New Topic - Monday 7th January
This term, the Year 4's have a new topic and that topic is...weather! We have some really exciting lessons planned from looking at why people go on holiday to understanding extreme weather conditions! We have gone from one extreme to the other: our rainforest has transformed into a snowy, stormy, scorching environment!
NEST Sports Event - 7th December 2018
On the 7th December, all of the Year 3 and 4's travelled to North Kesteven Leisure Centre, to take part in a multi-sports event. This event was visited by 3 other schools, along with Swinderby, in the local area.
There was a wide variety of different activities from boccia to archery, and even an activity where you were blindfolded and had to use your partner to guide you to kick a ball into a goal!
Every child enjoyed these activities, and even though they were in different teams with different schools, they all showed great determination, friendship and teamwork. They also received a certificate at the end of the morning, congratulating them on their participation.
