FOSS

Welcome to the Friends of Swinderby School (FOSS) section!

For those of you that don’t know, FOSS is run by a group of voluntary parents who organise a range of events throughout the school year to raise money to enhance your local primary school.

FOSS is an exciting and friendly way to get involved at Swinderby School.  We aim to provide closer links between home and school by bringing staff, parents, carers, children and friends together socially in support of the school.

We organise great events for the children to do which included: Chocolate Bingo, Film night (providing the children with a hot dog and cake!), Toy Sale , Creating a school tea towel!

In addition, we served refreshments for a donation at the Easter, Remembrance, Harvest Festival and Christmas services and School Shows and organise Raffles.

We are an enthusiastic group of parents and teachers who get together to raise funds which can be used to buy extra resources for the school.  All funds raised from these events have gone directly to the school to help them purchase:

  • Playground equipment
  • Books for the library
  • School festival t-shirts
  • Easter Eggs for all the children
  • Christingle’s for the children
  • Year 6 leaver’s Bibles
  • Year 6 leaver’s Ten Pin bowling night
  • Subsiding School Visits

However as you will know, to provide the children with these fun events we are always looking for more volunteer’s (especially as our own children are getting older and rapidly moving up the school!) this could be helping behind the scenes, writing newsletters, help selling raffle tickets, serving tea or even washing up!  If you have even a little time to spare you can be involved too.  Even if you can only spare half an hour at the event as a 'one off', it may help someone else have a break! All and any help is always gratefully received.

If you find you want to get more involved and can commit more time then please get in touch and we can let you know how you can help.  The only requirements being that you have a DBS check, a good sense of humour (this always helps) and lots of inspirational ideas however small would be a real bonus!

So if you think you may be able to assist in any way, shape or form please get in touch with Lucy Snell (Sophie’s mum) or Sarah Dunk (Tabby’s mum) or leave your details with the school office.
