Spring Term 2
Mountaineer Day
We had a fantastic day consolidating our learning with explorer Simon.
Clay skills
We had fun experimenting with clay - trying out the skills needed to create a model.
Half term homework
Our homework over the holiday was to create a representation of a mountain or river based on the learning we have done so far. The children have done an excellent job and have really thrown themselves into the challenge, with many including a mountain and river in their representation. I am truly blown away by the level of detail included.

Practically investigating the behaviour of particles in solids, liquids and gases.
Gas
Particles are spread out.
Liquid
Particles have room to move but cannot be compressed like gas can.
Solid
Particles are squished together and cannot move.
Investigating how states of matter change.
Chocolate starting to change from its' solid state.
Chocolate changing state through the melting process.

Friday afternoon fun poppy making for Remembrance Day.
Autumn Term 1 - 25-26
Welcome back and welcome to our new starters. We will be joined in our class by Mrs Jenkinson and Mrs Harper whilst Miss Staples, Mrs Ellison and Mrs Talbot will moving on to new classes with their children.
This term is going to be a very busy and exciting one! Please see the attached newsetter for what is happening in the next seven and a bit weeks!

Half term homework.
The children did an excellent job creating models and representations of the structure of teeth! I was also really impressed with how many eggsperiments took place - well done all!

2024/2025
Our Class
Our class is taught by Mrs Harrison and supported by Miss Staples, Mrs Talbot and Mrs Ellison.
PE
Our PE days are Wednesday and Friday and children should some to school in their school PE uniform on these days.
Reading
We have reading sessions in school as well as reading helpers who come to listen to our super reading. It would be fabulous, therefore, if reading books could come in to school every day.
Homework
A short homework task will be set every Friday, to consolidate our learning, which should be returned on a Wednesday.

We are looking forward to learning in our new class this term. There are many exiting things to come including finding out about the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age alongside learning all about our bodies and how they function. Our learning so far.
Hotseating Goldilocks.
In our reading session, we thought about questions we would like to ask Goldilocks about her behaviour. We then had great fun putting our questions to both of our 'Goldilocks'.
Healthy foods
In science we have been learning about nutrition and a healthy balanced diet. We sorted a wide variety of foods into the food groups they belong to before carrying out our own fatty food investigation to check which foods had the most fat out of: crackers, biscuits, crisps and nuts.
Bone challenge
We completed a challenge to label as many bones as we possibly could on a friend.
Stonehenge
Over half term the children worked very hard and produced their own representations of Stonehenge using any material they chose. Take a look at the slideshow of their excellent creations.

After we cooked potatoes in several different ways we got a chance to sample them.

Magnet investigations
We investigated what would happen if we sprinkled iron filings onto magnets. Some very interesting arrangements resulted!
Our Volcanoes!
Summer Term 1 2024-25
In History this term we will be finding out all about Emperors and Empires, beginning with the Romans, looking at everyday life as well as inventions and developments over the period.
Our Science, Art and DT learning will be closely linked to the natural world. We will be investigating plant nutrition and reproduction, studying beautiful botanicals and creating a greenhouse in DT.
Our maths this term will be time and decimals whilst in English our learning will be linked to the texts: Cinnamon and The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore.
Cresswell Crags
Following our autumn and spring term topics (Through The Ages and Rocks, Relics and Rumbles) we had a fantastic visit to Cresswell Crags. We found out all about life in the Stone Age, practised survival skills, visited caves and used our learning about rocks to sort and classify rocks.
Plant investigation.
We set up an experiment to allow us to investigate how water is transported by plants from their roots to their leaves. The coloured water began to travel through the celery but then it may have become too hot in the classroom!
Summer Term 2 2024-25
As the final term begins, we continue to work hard to achieve our best and fulfill the high expectations set!

Should Caesar invade Britain in the Roman times?
The class split into two groups - those for an invasion and those against - to try and convince Caesar of the right path to take! Those against invasion won!
